Crossings wins Cerner documentation award for integrated EMR

Crossings wins Cerner documentation award

The award, given to Ori Lotan, MD, and Marreddy Yeruva, MD, both Chief Medical Information Officers at Universal Health Services (UHS), recognizes the work of Crossings’ designers, who expanded Cerner’s dynamic documentation solution in 2014 with embedded advanced clinical decision support. The team designed and integrated 10 custom components using Cerner tools such as MPage smart templates. Their goal was to give physicians one place to review the electronic chart and document patient care in real time, as well as improve quality and safety measures. The latter was accomplished by presenting alerts at the right time in the physician’s workflow.

“We were very pleased to receive the Documentation All-Star award as recognition of our team’s innovative work,” says Dr. Lotan, who notes implementation has been positive. “Our bottom-line goal is to improve patient care, which is what a robust tool like an integrated EMR should be helping us do. We believe receiving excellent, evidence-based care, improved communication among members of the care team and more satisfied physicians all positively impact the patient experience.”
