Justin Monnig Becomes a CHIME Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO)
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., April 4, 2023 — Crossings Healthcare Solutions is pleased to announce that General Manager Justin Monnig recently became a College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Certified Healthcare CIO (CHCIO). Launched in 2008 by CHIME, the CHCIO program is the only certification designed exclusively for leaders in health information technology. It represents one of the highest professional achievements in the industry. Currently, more than 800 healthcare CIOs in 23 countries have earned the designation.
“Healthcare is undergoing a massive transformation. We are shifting to a value-based environment, improving coordination across the continuum and striving to reduce costs,” said CHIME President and CEO Russell Branzell, CHCIO. “Health IT is critical to achieving these goals. The CHCIO designation is a recognition that a CIO has the skills necessary to be a strategic leader in the organization.”
“Earning the CHCIO designation demonstrates Justin’s commitment to personal development, leadership and innovation in healthcare,” said Eric Goodwin, Vice President, Chief Information Officer at Universal Health Services. “This will enable Justin to better serve our clients as he works to improve patient care, clinician satisfaction and hospital operations.”
To achieve CHCIO status, candidates must have at least three years of experience in the position, participate in programs and events that continue their education as an IT leader and pass a rigorous examination. These qualifications help ensure that the CIO is truly dedicated to ongoing education, an important characteristic in an industry where patients pay the price for becoming stagnant.
“The role of the CIO is understanding the complexity of technology and its application to the clinical and business cases in healthcare,” said Monnig. “The CHCIO certification facilitates healthcare CIOs’ understanding of leadership, change management, IT functions and other critical skills necessary to bring value to the organization. I am appreciative of UHS and Crossings for their investment in their organizational leaders.”
The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) is an executive organization dedicated to serving chief information officers (CIOs), chief medical information officers (CMIOs), chief nursing information officers (CNIOs), chief innovation officers (CIOs), chief digital officers (CDOs) and other senior healthcare IT leaders. With more than 5,000 members in 58 countries plus two U.S. territories and over 190 healthcare IT business partners and professional services firms, CHIME and its three associations provide a highly interactive, trusted environment enabling senior professional and industry leaders to collaborate, exchange best practices, address professional development needs and advocate the effective use of information management to improve the health and care in the communities they serve.
