2018 Cerner Health Conference Recap

Each year, thousands of healthcare professionals migrate to the Cerner® Health Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, home to the leading-edge health information technology supplier. And this year was no different.

From October 6 through 11, clinicians and healthcare professionals gathered to learn from each other, and the Crossings Healthcare Solutions team was in the middle of the action.

“Smarter Care” was the theme of this year’s event, and Crossings was on hand to connect with other Cerner clients to share our experience and tools built specifically for the Cerner platform.

Due to a buzz generated by our clients’ experience with our tools and new solution development, we enjoyed the opportunity to meet with many professionals in the industry.

Crossings Takes Center Stage

On Sunday, October 7, Crossings made two presentations. Universal Health Services (UHS) Assistant Chief Medical Information Officer Marreddy Yeruva, MD presented “The Power of CDS: Insulin Advisor Management of Inpatient Hyperglycemic Syndromes.”

Dr. Yeruva’s talk, which he repeated on Wednesday, October 10, was particularly well received. One attendee expressed his belief in the Crossings Insulin Advisors’ ability to help drive patient safety and physician efficiency. Others approached Dr. Yeruva to request demos of the Advisors to share with the leadership of their organizations.

Also on Sunday, UHS and Crossings Healthcare Solutions Chief Medical Information Officer, Ori Lotan, MD presented “CMIOs Take on Optimizing Dynamic Documentation and Leveraging Document Quality Review.” After his talk, Dr. Lotan reported that several Cerner clients were interested in how the Document Quality Review can benefit their organizations.

In addition, Clinical Informaticist Kelly Jonas presented “A Journey to Efficient Communication: Optimized Nursing Handoff and Discharge Workflow MPages” on Wednesday, October 10, attracting interest in how these optimized tools can offer value to other Cerner clients.

Lunch and Learn

Crossings teamed up with Philadelphia-based Goliath Technologies, a leader in proactive IT operations software, to host a luncheon during the conference. Organizations in attendance included BayCare, North Kansas City Hospital, Ascension® Saint Thomas Health, University of Washington, Tenet Healthcare®, MITRE Health, Intermountain® Healthcare and Cerner. The event offered Crossings a chance to meet and network with Crossings and Goliath personnel in an informal setting.

We are already looking forward to next year’s Cerner Health Conference. If you missed 2018, be sure to attend in 2019. We’ll see you there!
